Our answers to some common questions…

  • Are you open all year?
Yes! Skerryvore is open all year. We can provide evening meals in winter with a bit of advance notice.
  • Can you pick me up from the ferry?
Yes. Please let us know when you are planning to arrive and we’ll do our best to help.
  • What are your check-in and check-out times?
Check in is normally from 2.30pm and we ask that you check out by 10.30am. Bags can be left with us outwith these times.
  • Can I bring my pet with me?
Sorry, no. Unfortunately, we can’t accept pets at Skerryvore.
  • Where does the name ’Skerryvore’ come from?
Our house is named after the lighthouse, Skerryvore, whose light is visible from the house. The name comes from the Gaelic ‘sgeir’ meaning rock and ‘mhor’ meaning big. Skerryvore lighthouse was completed in 1844 by Alan Stevenson, and at 48m (156ft) is the UKs tallest and some would say most graceful lighthouse. It is built of granite from The Isle of Mull and took 6 years to build.
